The graph illustrates the per person consumption (in gallons) of different types of milk in the United States in 45 year period, from 1970 to 2015.
Overall,it is clear that the whole milk consumption saw a substantial decrease, whereas low fat one experienced a moderate rise over the period, despite stopping in the second half of the period and remaining intact by the end of the period.Although the whole milk consumption was by far the highest trend in the initial year,it was replaced by the low fat milk one by the final year.
When it comes to low fat milk consumption, it significantly increased from roughly 6 gallons, which accounted for around one-fourth of the number of the whole milk consumption in 1970,to nearly 15 gallons in 1990 and remained stable by the end of the period, despite a marginal dip from 14 to around 13.2 gallons respectively.
As for the whole milk consumption,it experienced a dramatic fell from around 25 gallons in the year 1970 to almost 5 gallons by the final year, which was 5 times less than this trend in 1970,accounting for almost one-third of the low fat milk consumption by the year 2015.
