Two bar charts illustrate the proportion of elderly men and women, who were still working in various countries in two different time frame.
Overall, there were decrease in all given countries over the period of time in both genders.
In 1970, the USA and Indonesia data showed more than four – fifths, while Belgium and Japan’s trends were just below 80% for men. However, American women aged 60 to 64 were the same percentage comparing with Belgium men. Japan depleted the lowest proportion of women workers with around 55% in the same year.
In the beginning of the 19th century the data changed dramatically, dropping in every section. Surprisingly, approximately 10% of Belgium women stayed employed, decreasing half of the proportion over the 30years. Other countries’ fractions for women illustrated between 40 to 50%, reaching about 10 to 30% decline. Average half of elderly men worked in Belgium and Japan, whereas this trend was more than 70% up to 80% in Indonesia and the USA.
