The two pie charts illustrate the variety of reasons given to explain why people opt for cycling or driving a car to commute.
Overall, it’s obvious that reasons such as health, less pollution, and comfort make up most of each pie chart, while the remaining reasons show a small proportion in both pie charts, with a rapid commute and safety being the least chosen reasons.
The most preferable concerns for cycling to work are health and fitness and less pollution, which share an equal position of around 30% each, while comfort occupies approximately 40% of the reasons for driving to work. The second biggest choice, which is about 15%, for people to commute by bicycle is the absence of parking problems, whereas the following reasons for driving to work are carrying things and rapid travel, which share around 14% each, and distance, which is around 21%, making the second preferable categories above for commuting by car approximately equal parts.
The remaining reasons, such as safety while driving, agile travel, and affordability while cycling, are the least popular, having approximately 11%, 12%, and 13%, respectively.
