Overall, the visitors from all age groups went to gyms were increased. In addition, although adults had the highest percentages of engagement, they were surpassed by young adults. Meanwhile, people who are 35-44 and 45 and over experienced a stable growth.
In 1990, the adults who went to gyms were dominant with 8% of engagement and their figure rose moderately to 50% in 2010. Despite this, the percentage of young adults who participated in gyms witnessed a sharp increase from 5% in 1990 to 60% in 2010, surpassing their counterparts in 1998 and reaching its peak.
As for middle-aged and older adults, in the initial year, they both had almost the same percentages of participation in gyms at 3%. However, the figures diverge significantly, with middle-aged rising steadily to 40% by the end of the period. Meanwhile, older adults saw a slight decline before a gradual increase of 20% at the end.
