The chart illustrates how different households manage and spend their weekly salary in 1986 and 2018. It can be seen by the provided data that most families spend much of their money on food and leisure.
Money spent on food in 1968 was significantly higher than in 2018, 35 and approximately 17 percent, respectively. Housing costs became higher during the period, this is supported by the data as it is shown that household individuals spent almost double the amount of money on housing expenses in 2018 than in 1968 . A growth in the use of transportation also occurred as the years progressed. Previously about 8 percent of a home’s weekly income was used on transportation, but those numbers almost doubled in 2018. Overall, it is clearly shown that expenses regarding leisure time and food were the highest in the data.
Costs of household goods were almost identical at both times, using up to 8 percent of a family’s income. Fuel and power spendings , however, did not change much during the period, although it is displayed clearly that previously they used up a greater proportion of the weekly income. Furthermore, personal goods were almost double the cost during old times but have decreased as the years passed by. A similar trend is shown in spendings on clothing and footwear.
