The bar chart showcases the proportion regarding weekly household expenditures in 1968 and 2018 respectively.
Overall, most of the budgets decreased with the exception of housing, transport and leisure. Meanwhile,food had the largest proportion, which was 35%, in 1968 but the budget halved after half a century. Oppositely, entertainment spending became the first and increased up to approximately 23%.
In 1968, food was the highest percentage when compared to the budget of fuel and power, approaching nearly 6%. Both housing ,clothing and footwear were the second highest (10%) whereas household goods, personal goods and transport were the second lowest (7%). The remaining expenditure was leisure.
After 5 decades, the proportion of spending had underwent a massive change.Leisure became the first, followed by housing (18%) and food (17%) and transport (14%). Most of the majors experienced growing percentages.The spending of households remained unchanged. Nevertheless, the remaining three spending fell, including clothing and footwear, fuel and power and personal goods.
