Overall, there is a growth of the urban population in all given areas of the world and is expected to grow further. Furthermore, Latin America and the carribean had the highest, whereas Africa had the least urban population in the past, and the same pattern is expected to be visible in the future.
In 1950, Latin America and the Caribbean had 42% urban population, while Asia and Africa had only 14% and 12% population living in urban areas. In the next fifty years, africa and asia saw a substantial increase in urban population. In both these area city population accounted for 38% of the total. Latin and the Caribbean also saw a significant urbanisation and slightly more than two-thirds of the population was urban in 2000. The average global urban population also rose from 30% to nearly 50% over these five decades
It is predicted thet by 2030 the urban population will continue to grow further in all areas by 10%-15%. The average global urban population is also expected to risr and stand at about 60% in 2030.
