The given bar chart illustrates the participation rates of males and females in various popular sports in the United Kingdom in 2008. Overall, it is clear that swimming attracted the most participants, whereas the opposite was true for jogging. Notably, the largest disparity between male and female players was observed in netball.
Approximately 15% of males participated in swimming, compared to a considerably higher rate for females, who engaged at a level one-third greater. In contrast, 24% of males played soccer, which was four times the participation rate for females. Similarly, while 10% of men opted for cricket, the proportion of women participating in this sport was dramatically lower at only 1%. In Netball, 25% of females were recorded, whereas ale interest was almost negligible.
Regarding other sports, tennis and basketball shared the same pattern, each attracted around 6% of participants. Table tennis saw nearly 9% of male involvement, with only 3% of females participating. Likewise, other sports were more popular among males with an engagement rate of 20%, compared to 10% for females. Finally, jogging ranked as the least popular sport for both genders, at 3%
