The graph describes the proportion of females who used the internet in 2000 and 2001. Overall, there was an increase in internet use by females from 2000 to 2001.
In general, the older females were, the lower chance they visited the internet. There was a clear decreasing trend in the percentages in 2000. However, there were minor fluctuations in the general trend in 2001. In particular, the proportion of the age group 16-18 was larger than the that of 12-15 by 10%, and the percentage of the age group 36-45 was slightly greater than the that of 25-35 by around 3%. There were significant differences in the rate of internet adoption in both years with a maximum level of 70%.
Comparing the percentages specific to each age group, it was apparent that internet became more popular in most of the age groups. The anomalies were the age groups of 12-15 and 19-24, with the former experienced a minor decline and the latter remained constant. Notably, all females aged between 16 and 18 were netizens in 2001.
It can be projected that females who adopt the use of internet will increase across all age groups. The gap between the proportions of the older and younger female populations will be smaller in the foreseeable future.
