The illustrated bar graph depicts the proportion of Australian women giving birth to their first born child between 1966,1986 and 2006.
Overall, we can observe that with time the trend of concieving child in an early age has declined. Age group 19-24 is most likely to give birth to their first child as it contributes most of the bar graph whereas the age group which falls over 40 years conceives least and covers less proportion on the chart.
In detail,whilst in 1966, under 19 aged women covered approximately 35% of the bar graph in 1986 and 2006 it decreased significantly to 20% and about 12% respectively.In 1966, nearly 62% 19-24 aged group gave birth on the other hand in 1986 and 2006 we can see some declination in the trend.With the age group of 25-30, there has been fluctuation, the number increased by 15% in 1986 and again fell by 12%. Compared to previous years, in 2006, women started to start family during their early and late 30s.
