The line graph illustrates how much acid rain emissions was produced by four different sectors in UK from 1990 to 2007.

Overall, there was a dramatic decrease in the amount of acid rain emissions during seventeen-year period. The most significant decline was seen in electricity, gas and water supply sector.

In 1990, the amount of acid rain emissions produced by electricity, gas and water supply stood at around 3.3 million tonnes. While the sector of transport and communication and that of domestic was responsible for approximately 0.6 and 0.7 million tonnes respectively, such amount came from other industries was at around 2.2 million tonnes.

The figure acid rain gases produced by electricity, gas and water supply had fallen significantly by the end of the period, plunging to its low of 0.5 million tonnes in 2007. The duration between 1990 and 2007 saw a visible downward trend, culminating at nearly 1.5 million tonnes. Unlike all the other sectors’ figures in terms of producing acid rain emissions, the figure related to transport and communication sector remained unchanged in 2007, witnessing some flactuations from the beginning to the end, while domestic sector slightly decreased to negligible amounts over the period (below 0.3 million tonnes).
