The chart below provides the percentage of car-sharing scheme distribution in North America, Europe, South America, Australia, and Asia between 2008 and 2016.
Overall, as can be seen, there is a significantly high rate of car-sharing usage in North America and Europe, from 2008 to 2016. However, South America, Australia, and Asia remained significantly low in eight years.
During 2008, the data showed that car-sharing usage in Europe had rocketed by 59%, while North America had only 32%. However, after eight years, car-sharing usage in Europe dramatically decrease by 25%. In contrast with North America, the usage increased by 19%.
On the other hand, the other three continents steadily low in car utilization from 2008 to 2016. In the beginning year, 2008, South America had only 2%, Australia had 3%, and Asia had only 5%. In the year 2016, there was a slight increase of only 2% with each continent.
