The bar chart provides the data about the proportion of individuals aged 25-34 in the UK, who are home owners and renters, over the period from 2004 to 2014.
Overall, home owners witnessed a downward trend, while renters was a gradual upward trend. However. for most of the period, owning a house was more popular than renting, except 2013 and 2014, when renting finally overtook owning a accommodation.
If we take a look at the period from 2004 to 2011, the percentage of houseowners was nearly 60% in 2004, then slightly fell by 4% in 2006. There was a moderate rise in 2007 before continued to decrease to around 40% in 2011. In contrast, the figure of people who rent house in 2004 was the lowest with 20%, then steadily grew to 40% in 2011.
Turning to the remaining period, there was a slow growth of 2% in the ratio of households who own a house in 2011 and it hit its lowest point at 35% in 2014. Whereas, renters rate reached a plateau at 40% in 2011, then experienced a considerable increase of nearly 10% in 2014
