The provided bar chart delineates the global production and the value of commercial services exports over the course of 5 years starting from 2018.
In general, it is readily apparent that both the value of goods and commercial services exports of the world exhibited an upward trajectory, albeit at varying degrees and with minor fluctuations in between. Another highlight is that, in contrast to their value, the growth of these two categories experienced a decrease throughout the timeframe.
Looking first at the value of exported commodities and commercial services, the former started at almost 20,000 billion dollars, then proceeded to decline by around 5000 billion within the next two years before increasing moderately to about 23,000 billion dollars by 2023. In a virtually similar fashion, the value of exported commercial services began the period with roughly 6000 billion dollars and ended the timeframe with approximately 7,500 billion.
Regarding the remaining categories, the growth of commercial services exports accounted for one-tenth in the first inspected year and continued to dive abruptly to -17% in 2020. Nonetheless, the figure soon underwent a resurgence, skyrocketing to a quarter in the next year, before decreasing to 9% in 2023. The growth of exported merchandise was only recorded since 2019, with a -3% change. This figure thereafter displayed major oscillations with a dip to -8% in 2020 and a sharp rise to 27% by 2021, prior to ending the period at -6%.
