The charts illustrate the percentages of three types of nutrients – sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar – in four types of meals: breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner.
Overall, the data shows that dinner accounts for the highest proportion of sodium and saturated fat. Snacks have the highest proportion of added sugar. In contrast, breakfast consistently contributes the lowest share for all three nutrients.
Dinner makes up 43% of the sodium intake and 37% of the saturated fat intake, while its share of added sugar is comparatively lower at 23%. Lunch is the second-largest contributor with 29% sodium, 26% saturated fat and 19% added sugar.
By contrast, breakfast has a small share of all three nutrients, 16% each for saturated fat and added sugar, and 14% of sodium. Snacks, on the other hand, account for the largest proportion of added sugar at 42%, while they record a lower proportion of 14% sodium and 21% saturated fat.
