The pie charts illustrate the proportions of three unhealthy nutrients (sodium, saturated fat, and sugar) in daily meals.
Overall, dinner was the main meal for the sodium and saturated fat, while snacks contained the highest proportion of added sugar. Breakfast accounted for the smallest shares of all three nutrients.
For sodium, dinner made up the largest proportion, accounting for 43%. Lunch was the second highest at 29%, while both snack and breakfast had much lower and equal figures, at 14% each. The same trend is noticeable with saturated fat. Dinner again recorded the largest proportion at 37%, followed by lunch at 26%. Snacks and breakfast demonstrated lower shares at 21% and 16%, respectively.
In terms of added sugar, there was a considerable difference in other nutrients. Snacks was the largest share at 42%, while dinner remained at 23%. The two lowest percentages are lunch at 19% and breakfast at 16%.
