Overall, the highest expenditures in Malaysia was for housing. Meanwhile, the vast majority spent in Japan was for other and good services. In addition, both countries spent little on health care.
To begin with, In Japan, the proportion of expenditures was relatively similar in all criteria with around 20% on average. The highest spending was for other and good services, accounting for 29%. Food was in second place with 24% spent. Additionally, housing and transport were nearly the same, where housing got 21% and 20% for transport.
A substantial spending for Malaysians was on housing, where it was recorded to have 34% of total average. compared to Japan where they had the highest on other and good services, Malaysia only spent 20% on this criteria, making it the third, after the food in the second place accounted for 27%. However, health care in both Japan and Malaysia were observed as the least spending with average only 6% and 3%, respectively.
