Overall, it is evident that in both countries, the proportion of other is always the minority of spending. Whereas, leisure is falled behind from the majority proportion.
Apparently, in the UK, the highest amount was occupied by leisure with 27% in 1980, come after by utility bills, food & drink and transport, representing 26%, 23% and 15% respectively. Contrastingly, by 2008, the rate of utility bills rose to 29% but leisure was decline to 18%. Moreover, food & drink and transport slightly increase to 27% and 17%. However, other was remain stable at 9% in 1980 and 2008.
In contrast, the purchase of leisure and utility bills in New Zealand were responsible for 34% and 28% which constitute in the majority of proportion in 2008, followed by transport and food & drink and other. There was a significant movement in 2008, leisure was 17%, falling from a half amount in 2008. While utility bills, food & drink and transport went up to 31%, 25% and 16% respectively. interestingly, other stayed constant at 11%.
