The bar chart compares the amount of money spent on five categories by households in the UK, France and Germany in 2019.
Overall, all three countries prioritized housing as the largest category of household expenditure and Germany was the biggest spender in all categories. Additionally, while people in the UK spent more money on travelling and clothes shopping, the French focused on more expensive food and better healthcare and the two nations pay the same for housing.
Looking at the details, transport and clothing were put more money into by the UK than France. Notably, the largest expenditure difference between two sectors was recorded in transport, where Germany paid around 230 thousand euros, which was approximately 60 thousand and 70 thousand more compared with the UK and France. Similarly, the amount of money Germany spent to buy clothes( around 73 thousand euros was higher than that of the UK( about 63 thousand euros) and that of France( roughly 40 thousand euros).
As well as the largest payments of Germany were recorded for housing at approximately 410 thousand euros, this type of household expenditure experienced the highest spending expended by the UK and equal to France. In contrast, food and health were less balanced than housing, where Germany also prevailed in that order with approximately 180 thousand euros and 80 thousands euros. Meanwhile, the lowest expenditure in food and health belonged to the UK( about 110 thousand euros and 20 thousand euros), on which France spent around 170 thousand euros and 50 thousand euros.
