Overall, disposing waste by landfill and dumping in sea have an downward trend. The amount of waste are burned had the same trend as others in the first three years but then switched into the opposite trend at the end of the period.
Firstly, starting at a peak in 2005 at 70 million tonnes, the figure for lanfill fell slowly by 10 million tonnes each year and ended with 40 million tonnes in 2008. Next, the amount of waste are dumped in sea was 55 million tonnes in the first year, then decreased to 50 million in 2006, remained at this level until 2007 and dropped to 40 million tonnes in the last year.
Lastly, waste are burned at nearly 65 million tonnes in 2005. One year later, the satistic for burning declined significantly to 40 million. Ending the period with a recovery, its rocketed to the same level as started.
