In addition, the amount of waste dumped at sea was 55 million tonnes in the first year, and then slightly declined to 50 million in the following year, remained stable at 50 million in 2006 and steadily dipped in 40 million tonnes in the last year.
Moreover, waste burned was approximately 65 million tonnes in the initial year, marginally decreasing to 60 million in the following year. Subsequently, in 2007, the amount of waste burned plummeted to 40 million. However, by the end of the period, it had increased to the same level as in 2005.
