The line chart compares the volume of imported and exported crude oil over a five year time span starting in 2015. Units are measured in million tons.

It is clear that the patterns of the two studied subjects were highly opposite.

Looking at the data in more detail, we can see that from 2015 to 2016, the amount of exported oil remained stable from 2016 to 2017, prior to a decrease to only half of its figure in 2017 after experiencing a noticeable decline from 9.18 to only 6.8 in the first two years of the given period. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese government started to increase the amount of imported crude oil until the statistics equaled that of exported oil in 2018 at 3.96.

In the following years, the volume of exported crude oil stayed unchanged until a slight rise to 4.66 in 2020. As for imported oil, its data climbed steadily over the period, peaking at 11.75 at the end of the period.
