The bar chart shows information about the proportion of transport fuel usage in six European countries (Slovakia, Italy, France, Austria, Spain and Greece) as well as the comparison with average rate for the years 2009 and 2010.
Overall, fuel use in the transport sector was most common in Slovakia, whereas Greece recorded considerably lower figures. Additionally, the figures for Slovakia, Spain and average rate experienced downfalls at varying degrees, while the reverse was true for remaining countries apart from Austria which did not observe any changes throughout the given period.
Starting from upward trends, the proportion of transport fuel use in Italy showed a slight increase to just above 5% from the initial figure of approximately 4.5%. The figure for France, similarly, experienced a modest growth to well above 4%, beginning the period with about 3.8%. Likewise, Greece rose to 2%, up from just above 1%.
By contrast, there were slightly varied trends among other countries. Slovakia had by far the highest rate despite a decline to around 6.5% from the beginning point of just under 9%. The figures for Spain and EU average exhibited almost identical reductions by 1% point from the beginning 4 and 6 to 3 and 5 respectively by the end of the period. Austria, with a little difference, remained constantly unchanged at just above 5% over the whole span.
