The chart illustrates the proportion of fuel used in the transport sector in six EU countries, as well as the average for these countries, in 2009 and 2010.
Overall, the percentage of fuel used in Slovakia, Spain, and the EU witnessed a significant decline, while Italy, France, and Greece exhibited an opposite trend during the period, Australia remained stable at approximately 5.2%.
From 2009 to 2010, the percentage of fuel consumed in Slovakia which had the highset figures peaked at nearly 9%, before decreasing significantly to 6.5%. Spain’s fuel consumption also declined from nearly 4% to just 3%. The average percentage of the EU also dropped from about 6% to 5%.
In contrast, Italy experienced an increase in fuel usage from about 4.5% to 5.2%. Fuel consumption in France also increased from approximately 3.8% to 4.2%. Moreover, Greece’s fuel usage percentage which had the lowest figures grew significantly, climbing from 1.2% to 2%.
