The charts demonstrate the usage of water for residential purposes such as garden, bathroom, kitchen, toilet and washing clothes in 1988 and 2008.
It can be seen from the charts that significantly higher proportion of water was used on bathroom compared to other categories in both years. While, gardening experienced a sharp drop in water consumption from 1988 to 2008, kitchen followed an opposite trend.
In 1988, bathroom accounted for a quarter of water usage, but at the end of the period it reached 29%. At that time, kitchen made up minority of water use, 15%. However, by 2008, it experienced a dramatical surge, its figure doubling and ending up as the largest water consumer category. Meanwhile, toilet did not have significant variations with just a slight decline from 18% to 14%.
Moving on, at the beginning of the period, garden and washing clothes represented 20% and 22% of water usage respectively. The percentage of water spent on washing clothes decreased by 3%. Garden, on the other hand, declined sharply making up 8%, in 2008.
