Overall adult fiction, adult nonfiction, children’s bosks and top auto-visual materials followed similar downward trends. The significant change was observed by children’s book and top auto-visual materials.
Focusing on the biggest changes first, these were children’s book and top auto-visual materials. Starting at 1113 million in 1995, the figure for children’s book decreased dramatically from 1113 to 161 millions in 2000. There was a significant decline in the figure for children’s book between 1995 and 2005 then it fell negligibly to 110 million in 2005. As for the figure for top auto-visual materials, the figure for stood at 330 million in 1995. Before sharp declining to 230 million in 2005 the figure for auto-visual materials fell dramatically from 330 to 280 between 1995 and 2000.
By contrast, adult fiction and adult nonfiction bucked the trend. The figure for adults nonfiction accounted for 107 million in 1995. Having increased slightly from 107 to 113 million in 2000 the figure for adults nonfiction declined slightly to 104 million in 2005. Similarly the figure for adult fiction started at 98 million in 1995 after which there was a slight decrease for the figure for adults fiction to 93 in 2000. After falling to about 93 million the figure for adults fiction declined negligibly to 60 million in 2005.
