The bar chart compares the number of male and female fitness club members in Thailand between 1985 and 2015.
Overall, men consistently had higher membership figures than women throughout the period. While both groups experienced fluctuations, male participation showed more dramatic changes, particularly around 2010.
In the early period from 1985 to 1995, membership numbers for both genders increased. Female membership rose gradually from around 1,200 in 1985 to approximately 1,700 in 1995. Meanwhile, the number of male members grew more sharply, peaking at nearly 3,800 in 1990 before falling slightly to about 2,500 in 1995. During this time, men clearly outnumbered women.
From 2000 onwards, trends became more varied. Female membership reached its highest point at roughly 2,800 in 2000, then declined slightly to about 2,200 in 2005 before recovering to nearly 3,000 in 2010 and finally dropping to 2,000 in 2015. In contrast, male membership decreased to around 1,800 in 2000, rose modestly in 2005, and then surged to a peak of 5,000 in 2010, before falling sharply to just 1,000 by 2015.
