The bar chart illustrates how much money was spent on international tourism by travellers from seven different nations, namely China, Germany, the US, the UK, Russia, France and Canada in 2011 and 2012.
Overall, while there was an increase in the amount of money spent on international tourism in most countries, the opposite was true for France and Germany. In addition, it was also notable that China was the country that witnessed the most dramatic rise in tourism spending between 2011 and 2012.
As can be seen in the chart, the amount of money which was spent on tourism in China was about 70 billion in 2011, after which it experienced a significant rise to just over 100 billion in the next year. Meanwhile, the figure for Germany and the US were quite similar at around 80 billion in both years. The amount of money which was spent on international tourism by Russian saw different change, increasing slightly from approximately 25 billion in 2011 to exactly 40 billion in 2012.
About 20 billion was expended on tourism by people in Canada in both years. By contrast, a different change can be seen in the figure for the UK, which went up marginally by 2 billion (from about 43 billion in 2011 to 45 billion in 2012). The amount of money which was spent on travelling in France was at 40 billion in 2011, followed by a slight decline to around 38 billion for the following year.
