The bar chart compares how much consumers in Britain, France, Italy and Germany spent on six different consumer products, measured in thousand pounds sterling.
Overall, Britain spent the most money on all six products, whereas Germany generally recorded the lowest figures. In addition, photographic film and toys attracted the highest levels of expenditure, while tennis racquets and personal stereos received comparatively less spending.
Spending on photographic film was the highest among all products. British consumers spent about 170 thousand pounds, compared with roughly 165 thousand in France. The figures for Italy and Germany were slightly lower, at around 157 and 147 thousand respectively. A similar pattern can be seen for toys and CDs. Britain again ranked first, while Germany recorded the lowest expenditure. France consistently spent slightly more than Italy on both products.
Turning to the remaining products, a similar trend can be seen. Britain continued to record the highest expenditure on perfumes, around £160 thousand, while Germany and Italy spent noticeably less, at approximately £145 thousand each. France ranked second with spending of about £150 thousand. As for tennis racquets and personal stereos, the differences among the four countries were relatively unnoticeable. British consumers again spent the most, at roughly £155 thousand on both products. France and Italy followed closely, with figures of £150 thousand, whereas Germany recorded the lowest spending, at approximately £145 thousand.
