Overall, salaries increased in most sectors over the ten years, and financial services had the highest average salary in both years. In contrast, Retail and shops consistently paid the lowest.
In 2000, employees in financial services earned about $110,000, which rose slightly to around $130,000 in 2010, making it the highest-paying sector in both years. Telecommunications also saw a growth, from about $70,000 to nearly $90,000. The Transport sector had a more modest increase, from $40,000 to around $50,000.
In contrast, salaries in retail and shops were the lowest in both years, at around $25,000 in 2000 and just under $30,000 in 2010. Tourism and administration also had relatively low salaries, increasing only slightly throughout the period. Across all sectors, the average salary rose from $54,000 in 2000 to $60,000 in 2010.
