Overall, what stands out from the chart is that the salaries in 2010 were significantly higher than those in 2000. Another interesting feature is that Tourism had the lowest figures in both years. In addition, Financial Services recorded the highest figures in both 2000 and 2010.
Looking at the figures for 2000, people working in Financial Services earned around 115.000, making it the highest paid sector. The second highest figure was recorded in Telecommunications, at approximately 70.000, followed by Administration and Retail/Shops, at around 51.000. The lowest average salary was recorded in Tourism, at 20.000, which was almost four times lower than the figure for Administration.
With respect to the figure for 2010, the average salary for all sectors increased from 44.000 in 2000 to 50.000 in 2010. Financial Services remained the highest paying sector, with earnings of around 130.000, which was almost three times higher than the figure for Retail/Shops, at approximately 50.000. In contrast, people who worked at Telecommunications had salaries at around 76.000 , which means telecommunications was in the second place in terms of salary. Similarly, the average salary in Transport sector was the same as the average salary in Administration with around 55.000. The lowest salary was recorded in Tourism, at approximately 17.000, which means salary in Tourism declined from 20.000 in 2000 to around 17.000 in 2010.
