The bar chart illustrates average hours spent daily by teenagers and elderly people in leisure and sports activities in the US in 2015.
Overall, it is clear from the chart that watching TV is the most popular activity among both elderly people and teenagers.
The elderly population spends the most hours per day watching TV, almost double that of teenagers, with 4.5 hours and 2.4 hours respectively. Reading books and novels comes in second place for the elderly, with 1 hour spent per day, as opposed to teenagers with less than 0.5 hours per day. It is obvious that the elderly population has quite less energy than energetic youngsters thus, they prefer relaxing and thinking and spend just over 0.5 hours per day doing nothing.
In contrast, teenagers prefer to spend their free time doing sports exercises for 0.6 hours per day, which is entirely different from the elderly with 0.3 hours per day. Another popular leisure time activity among youngsters is using their computers for entertainment purposes for 1.2 hours per day, which is also popular among the elderly, with 0.5 hours. Whereas socializing and communicating is more or less the same from both perspectives, with approximtely 0.8 hours spent per day.
