A graph provides information about the changes in three different parts of crime in Manchester city centre. The graph covers the period between 2003 and 2012, and the vertical axis indicates the number of crimes per year
Overall, we can all agree that in 2004, burglary was by far the most popular of these situations, with nearly 4000 crimes caught in just 1 year. Following this was car theft (close to 2500 crimes), while much less robbery was caught (just over 700 crimes).
However, during this 9-year period the incidence of burglary fell dramatically to approximately over 1000 crimes in just 5 years. The rate of robbery also declined, but much less significantly to just a little bit over 500 crimes, so although it remained the least number, crime levels were also the most stable.
The rate of car theft, on the other hand, showed the upward trend, overtaking that of burglary between 2006 and 2007. But the increase is not worth noticing. In 2012, it had soared to almost 3000 crimes in 4 years.
