The line chart displays the changes in three different types of criminal activities in Manchester center from 2003 to 2012. Overall, it is apparent that burglary and car theft had contrasting trends whereas robbery remained having the lowest crime rate.
Firstly, it is evident that burglary initially had the highest criminal rate in 2003 with a whopping 3400 cases. However, the amount of burglary cases started to decline dramatically in 2005. Despite having reached its lowest point in 2008, it then started to rebound in 2009 from having only 1000 recorded criminal cases to 1500 cases. After its rebound, the trend for burglary remained stable until 2012.
In contrast, the trend for car theft was the opposite of burglary as it gradually increased throughout the years. In addition, there were only 2300 cases recorded as car theft in 2003, and the number started to grow and reached 2800 cases in 2012. Compared to burglary and car theft, robbery had the most stable trend and was recorded as the most insignificant crime.
