The line graph compared the changes that took place in the three different areas (burglary, car theft and robbery) of crimes in New Port city centre between 2003 and 2012. Overall, although burglary was the most popular area, it was replaced by car theft at the end of the period. In contrast, robbery continued to have the lowest result throughout the full period.
In the first year, burglary had the highest number of incidents of over 3,500. Then, it slightly increased and peaked at 4,000 in 2004. However, it began to decrease gradually to around half as high as its original number in 2003. As a result, the amount of incidents was 1,500 in the last period.
The figure for car theft was initially approximately 2,800 in 2003, but then it saw an unparalleled increase during this survey, which reached 2,700 incidents, becoming the most common type of crime.
