Overall, It is remarkable that suitable degree prgrams were the top priority for students’choice when choosing the unversity in both years. While good sports and social activites became the least popular reason among students in 2005.
In both years 1995 and 2005, the most common reason students chose a university was suitable degree courses, acccouting for 35% of all the purpils. The proportion ranked at 37% in the next ten years. Following a similar pattern, quality of teaching also rose from 15% to approximately 20% in the same period. Futhermore, although the figure for closeness to parential home, initially, was the less favored choice (about 10%), it then jumped to over 20% , more than double in the 1995 figure.
Conversely, quality of resources recorded the ranked second at first, standing at around 20% in 1995; however, the figure declined modestly in 2005. Lastly, 18% of students erolled at unversity due to good sport and social activites, the percentage witnessed a dramatical plunge to just under 10, making the less important reason by 2005.
