The bar chart compares how many apps were sold in three unique stores, namely the iOS App Store, Google Play, Amazon, and the App Store from 2010 to 2014.
Overall, it is clear that, in terms of all individual apps, they followed a similar upward pattern over the entire period. In contrast, the number of iOS App Store apps grew moderately, rising by approximately 600,000 between 2010 and 2013.
However, the number of Google Play Amazon apps grew sharply from just below 750,000 in 2013 to 1,350,000 in 2014, and in the last year, it hit its high.
On the other hand, by the end of the period, Google Play Amazon had overtaken the iOS App Store’s dominance in the last year.
Likewise, the App Store’s value in 2014 (just below 250,000) is roughly equivalent to its situation in the first year of the iOS App Store. In addition, the number of Appstore apps rose gradually throughout the entire period, from almost zero to nearly 250,000 in the 4-year period. The amount of Google Play Amazon apps from the beginning of the period to 2014 was erratic, fluctuating between more or less 300,000 and 750,000.
