The bar chart illustrates how many applications were sold in the iOS App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore over a 5 year period.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that the number of sold apps experienced an increase over the entire period, although there was a higher growth between 2013 and 2014 than in the previous years. Moreover, with the exception of the year 2014, the iOS App Store accepted the highest scale in terms of purchases toward customers, but finally, Google Play made to overcame it. It should also be noted that the Amazon Appstore stayed as the one with the lowest consumers as a whole.
Expenditure patterns on the iOS App Store and Google Play visited similarities, especially in the year 2013 with the closest numbers (around 755,000 and more or less 730,000 respectively). While iOS started as the most common choice of merchant, with roughly 170,000 sales in 2010, Google Play had the second rank, with almost 20,000 bargains. However, numbers to both apps skyrocketed by the end of the period, reaching to 1,200,000 to iOS App Store and 1,300,000 to Google Play.
As for the Amazon Appstore, the number of individuals who bought an app increased insignificantly compared to the other two apps, rising from approximately 1000 sales in 2010 to roughly 280,000 in 2014. As a result, despite being close in numbers with Google Play at the beginning of the period, with around 2000 differences, the Amazon Appstore ended up as the least popular preference to be chosen by people.
