The bar chart illustrates how many dwellers of the UK migrated to Australia, Spain and Canada in 2000, 2005 and 2010.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that while Australia was the most common destination for British people for the purpose of emigration in all three periods, Spain and Canada reversed their positions by the end of the period. Moreover, these countries received the greatest number of migrants coming from the UK in 2005. In terms of trends, Australia and Spain followed the same pattern of climbing during these years.
Australia dealt with a tremendous number of emigrants as a whole, with these skyrocketing from around 45 to 70 from 2000 to 2005, but dropping to 60 in 2010. Similarly, in Spain, migration levels, which stood at around 15 in 2000, also soared by more or less 35 in the following 5 years, but had fallen to 20 at period-end.
In contrast, as for Canada, the reverse pattern was observed. In fact, this country, underwent a fall, with the number of the UK citizens as a new comer, declining from 30 in 2000 to only 10 in 2010 which is a third compared to the start point.
