The presented bar chart illustrates the figures for females in the 16-25 age bracket in a particular region who took part in six different sports in comparison to the percentage of those watching them in the year 2000. From an overall perspective, as can be seen from the chart that Basketball was the most common choice for both types of females while Horse riding and racing was the least popular. The biggest difference between percentage of girls watching and playing was recorded in the sport of tennis.
Looking at the graph in more details, there was 60% of females watching tennis, which was twice as high as the proportion of people playing (30%). The same trend was true for gymnastics with figures for girls watching and participating this sport, at 20% and 10% respectively. Additionally, the proportion of females watching horse riding and racing (5%) was 3% higher than that of people playing this sport (2%).
By contrast, the percentage of girls in the 16-25 age group participated in golf was 30%, which was three times higher than that of those watching (10%), while the figure for females playing was watching was approximately 12% and 4% correspondingly. Moreover, the proportion of females aged 16-25 witnessed a nearly similar number of both people play and watching basketball, at 55% and 50% in the order given.
