The bar chart illustrates the proportion of female spectators and sportwomens between the age of 16 to 25 in various sports in a particular country in 2000. Overall, tennis and basketball had more women interested in, while horse riding and racing were the least popular.
In 2000, tennis sport had the highest percentage of spectators at 60%, while just 30% of women actually played tennis. This is followed by basketball sport, both playing and watching basketball were nearly equally popular among females with participation and viewership rates at 50% and 55%, respectively.
By contrast, the remaining sports saw considerably lower women engagement. The figure for female golfers accounted for 30% of females, triple the number of womens who watched it. Less than 20% of women joined in or watched gymnastics, badminton, horse riding and racing. Specifically, the figures for horse riding and racing were just under 5%.
