The bar chart compares the percentage of housesolds in owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales between 1918 and 2011.
Overall, the trend for indicated aspects envolved conversely during the period. Thus, there was observed a gradual rise and then a slight drop in the percentage of households in owned accommodation, while the percentage of owned accommodation, gradualy declined and then slightly rose at the end.
In the beginning, the difference between owned and rented accommodation was vast, as the owned-to-rented accommodation ration was aproximetly 1 to 4, the percentage equivalent would be about 20% to 78%. Afterward, this proposion started to shrink, because the percentage of owned accommodation heavily outnumbered the rented one’s, until the percentage of households in owned and rented accommodations have equalized.
Following 1981, each decade showed an increase in number of owned accommodation, accompanied by a similar decline in rented ones. Between 1991 and 2001, there were twice as many owned accommodations as rented ones. Exceptionally, in 2011, here was a slight change in pattern, as rented accomodation experienced a modest rise of 5%, while owned accommodation saw a slight decline of 5%.
