Overall, most services on the internet were dominated by men. Notably, watching tv spending time with families, doing exercies and reading were most popular among both genders, while playing computer games recorded the least figure. In addition, shopping was especially popular among women while men showed a strong preference to using the internet.
In terms of activities with the noticeable gaps, the percentage of women shopping
online exceeded that of men by 45 percentage points, at approximately 75% and 30%, respectively. Conversely, the figure for men enjoying surfing the internet almost doubled that of women, at just under 75% compared with 37%. Likewise, whereas male using social media for games stood at roughly 15%, female recorded just 10%.
Regarding the remaining reasons, the figures for watching tv for both genders were almost identical, at 77%. Similarly, just over 75% of women and exactly 75% men used social media for family purposes. In addition, the percentages of men doing sport/exercise and reading online were slightly higher than that of male, resulting in the minor disparities of approximately 5%.
