The given bar chart illustrates the proportion of British citizens who consumed the suggested amount of fruit and vegetables on a daily basis in 2002, 2006, and 2010.
Overall, men, women, and children shared the same pattern over the period: they increased from 2002 to 2006 before falling in 2010. While the proportion of women recorded the highest, that of children was the lowest.
Regarding men’s and women’s consumption, after an upward trend in both groups, there was a slight decline at the end of the period. The percentage for men was 22% and for women was 25% at the beginning of the period. In 2006, the figures for both genders increased moderately to 29% and 32%, before falling to 24% and 27% in 2010, respectively.
Children had a lower figure than those for both men and women. It started at 11% in 2002, rose gradually to 16%, then decreased slightly to 14% at the end of the period.
