The bar chart illustrates the proportions of the UK population consuming the recommended daily amount of fruit and vegetables over an eight-year period, from 2002 to 2010.
Overall, women consistently reported the highest percentage throughout the period, while the figure for children reported the least in all three years. All groups saw an increase from 2002 to 2006, followed by a slight decline in 2010.
In 2002, women who consumed the recommended quantity of fruit and vegetables had the largest proportion, at 25%, followed by the figures for men and children, at 22% and 11%, respectively. Turning to 2006, all three categories experienced a noticeable increase. The share of women consistently led the chart at 32%, which was twice as high as that of children and more than that of men, by 3%.
By contrast, in 2010, there was a slight fall in all three categories. The percentage of women consuming the recommended amount still remained the largest, though it decreased moderately to 27%. Finally, the figure fell to 24% for men and 14% for children.
