Overall, almost all the owned items by domestic individuals experienced increased growth over the period. Telephone and washing machine remained the most purchased products, while the mobile phone and internet connection, despite being the lowest choice, had the maximum noticeable surge over the period.
In 1996, telephone ownership was highest among all the groups, standing at nearly 95%, declining slightly to about 85%. In contrast, washing machine faced a significant growth, climbing from approximately 65% to about 82%. Similarly, both microwave and fridge made up a gradual peak at nearly 80% and a slightly lower than microwave, to about 78%, respectively.
In comparison, the most dramatic change was shown by the internet connection, accounting for just about 5% in 1996. By the year 2006, the data jumped rapidly to roughly about 60%, almost reaching close to fridge and microwave. However, mobile phones had more demand than internet connection initially, representing 20%. Although over the period of time, it fell down, constituting closely to 40%.
