Overall, the largest part of the water is used for agricultural purposes in Central Asia, South East Asia, Africa, and South America, while in North America and Europe, it is aimed mainly at industry. Meanwhile, water used for domestic reasons constituted a negligible amount in all six parts of the world.
In detail, the amount of water used for household purposes in Central and South East Asia is equal, comprising only 7% of the total water consumption in these areas. Central Asia leads in agricultural water usage with 88%, followed by Africa with 84%, South East Asia with 81%, and South America with 71%.
Furthermore, the percentage, which depicts water consumed for industry in Europe and North America, made the highest contribution to the water consumption in these zones, constituting almost half of it (53% and 48% respectively), while it is the smallest part of the water utilization in South America, at 10%. Meanwhile, the proportion, which represents the water that is utilized in households, is 15%.
