TASK 1
The line graph illustrates the proportion of water in the UK river that was grouped as having a chemical quality from 1990 to 2002.
Overall, Wales initially had the highest rates in all time; however, it declined by 2002. It is also clear that Scotland, despite starting with the lowest proportion, skyrocketed sharply, while Northern Ireland and England fluctuated throughout the period shown.
In 1990, Wales witnessed a consistent high-quality water proportion, accounting for 95% and decreasing to 80% by 2002. In contrast, Northern Ireland started the period at approximately 82% and rose to almost 100% water quality. However, it slightly decreased to 98% by the end of the period, which was considerably higher than the water in Wales.
In terms of England and Scotland, they both were at lower rates, with 45% and 21%, respectively. Additionally, both countries experienced only fluctuations. England rose significantly, reaching 60% in 1997 before dropping slightly in the end. Whilst, Scotland rose gradually, peaking at 60%, but then declined to nearly 40%.
