The given chart compares the percentage of male and female students in six art-related programs at higher education institution in the UK in 2011.
Overall, the figure for students who was interested in linguistics, English language and literature, and communication and media stud was higher than that for remaining. It is clear that female students was keen on art subjects more than male students, except art and design subjects.
Regarding to three art-related major that students liked more than the others, English language and literature was the major that students prefer to most with the figure standing at 250% for female and about 25% lower for male. Similarly, the rate of female students studying communication and media stud and linguistics stood from around 220% to 240%, and that for male students stood from nearly 180% to 200%.
Turning to philosophy major, the proportion of female students stood at 150%, was three times higher than that for male students. Female students enjoy studying history and archeology than male students with its figure stood at about 120% and 90% respectively. In contrast, the percentage of male students in art and design course was around 170%. higher than that for female students about 20%.
