The bar chart illustrates the number of students at a UK university with art-related courses based on their gender in the year 2011.
Overall, the total number of females studying art-based subjects was greater than that of males. The most significant number of both sexes took English language and literature, while the lowest numbers were contributed by philosophy for males and History and Archeology for females.
Female enrollment figures for English language and literature were 250, being higher than the male number by around 20 people, which was also the highest data for the overall chart. Whereas, the least significant number was contributed by History and Archeology, which accounted for just over 100 students. Here, philosophy was overtaken by just around 30 female learners. The number of female learners in Linguistics, Art and Design, and Communication and Media studies was 240, 150, and 230 respectively in the year 2011.
The number of men who enrolled in English and literature was 230, being the highest contributing sector for males. Surprisingly, both males and females had their most substantial data for this same subject. The male lowest figure stood for Philosophy, which contributed just 50 scholars. The amount for History and Archeology was somewhat similar to that of women’s, being a little low at 90 learners. Art and Design is quite unique as it is the only section of course where males lead the females by around 30 more students. The boys who had a liking in Linguistics and Communication and Media studies were 180 and 210.
